Reimagining Nature

Herbal Essences has built a recognizable identity around nature, ingredients, freshness and sensory pleasure.



 

The challenge was to evolve that world into a more magical and contemporary visual language without losing the warmth, emotional connection and naturality that make the brand recognizable.



 

We worked alongside Grey in New York and Herbal Essence's brand team to translate the brand’s core signals, botanical ingredients, liquid freshness, growth, light, efficacy and sensory texture into a crafted digital world. 

 

Rather than recreating nature literally, we treated it as a visual language. Ingredients, droplets, plants, atmosphere, and motion became tools to express the product’s benefits in a way that felt intuitive, emotional and ownable.

The result is a new visual framework for Herbal Essences: a world that feels unmistakably connected to the brand, but expanded into a more cinematic, flexible, and dreamlike space.

 

It gives the brand a way to communicate natural ingredients and product efficacy through a richer visual system, designed for campaign storytelling and future expressions.

Translating the Brand World

The project began with a simple question: how can Herbal Essences’ natural identity evolve without losing its essence?

 

We focused on the feelings already embedded in the brand: freshness, vitality, softness, nourishment, and connection to nature. From there, we developed a visual world that could hold both realism and wonder.

Nature as a Visual System

Every natural element was treated as part of a larger language.

 

 

Rosemary, petals, water, light, and atmospheric details were not only decorative. They became narrative elements that helped communicate product benefit, sensory experience and brand mood.

The Droplet as Hero


At the center of the system is the droplet.
Designed as a symbol of life, freshness, and efficacy, it became a recurring hero element throughout the film.

Through surface tension, translucency, internal movement, and interaction with rosemary, the droplet connects the formula to the natural world around it.

Crafting Sensory Detail


The work relied on carefully crafted details: liquid movement, plant behaviour, surface texture, translucency, refraction, and environmental light.

 

These details were not added for technical display. They were used to make the world feel alive, tactile and emotionally resonant.

Built for Future Campaigns

Beyond a single film, the project establishes a visual direction that Herbal Essences can continue to build on.

 

A crafted natural world, flexible enough to support different ingredients, products, and moods, while preserving the brand’s recognizable connection to nature and sensory beauty.
